This tool allows you to take any You Tube video and add quizzes and discussions throughout the video, these are called Tours. Instead of students watching a You Tube video and then answering questions, Zaption allows you to embed the questions as they work through the video.  Student responses can also be tracked. Zaption allows you to not only create your own interactive videos, but it allows you to use many of the other videos which have been created by other people, all you need to do is press the copy it button and it allows you to modify the video. You are able to trim videos and string a series of videos together.

Take a Look at the Demo video

There are three versions; a free version, a classroom version (paid) and a campus version (paid). The paid versions allow you to embed more question types and collect the data as the students answer the questions.

You could use any video that you have prepared and uploaded to You Tube (using iMovie, explain everything, powerpoint etc) and have the students comment OR flip that and get the students to create their own videos and add the questions for others in the class to answer.

To share your video you can either get the URL link to share with students, or you are able to get the embed link. I have embedded an example below of a Zaption clip on Grammar.

This tool has so much potential, if you only look at one new tool this year, this is the one to look at !!!!!

    Hi Kelly,

Thanks for the great post! I just wanted to mention that you can also view student responses and engagement data with the free Basic version of Zaption. Our analytics aren’t restricted only to paying users. We believe that all users, paying or not, should have access to this valuable data. 🙂

    Thanks again!
